STC-Montreal Administrative Council

Poppy Quintal, President

Poppy Quintal is a technical editor and writer with 16 years of experience, mainly in the aerospace and medical fields. She has an Honours BA (double major in Classical Studies and English) and some of her friends often wonder how on earth she ended up working in aerospace technical documentation.

Since “doing whatever needs to get done” took priority during her tenure as VP, Poppy plans to catch up on her proposed goals from last year. Now that we once again have a growing and enthusiastic volunteer base thanks to the efforts of this year’s administrative council and volunteers, she also hopes the 2008-2009 team can take on a few additional goals.

  • Draft the STC Montreal bylaws and, if time allows, have them approved by the STC and ratified by the STC Montreal Membership.
  • Survey the members to find out how the chapter can best meet their needs. (Hopefully, the members will co-operate by participating, otherwise…)
  • Continue to make sure that we (STC Montreal) do things “by the book” in accordance with the STC Bylaws.
  • With our Membership Coordinator, work with STC head office to improve the way the chapter is notified when new members join the chapter. Currently, this can take months.
  • Hold a Technical Publications Competition in 2008-2009 .
  • Continue to build co-operative relationships with other professional communications organizations in the Montreal area.
  • Begin a quest to find and document the history of the STC Montreal Chapter.
